ABOUT
My name is Nathan, I'm a part time knife maker based in Geelong, specialising in culinary knives.
I hold bachelor degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Design. Knife making allows me to fuse these two disciplines creating an object that is both functional and artistic. I create my own laminated steels by hand, drawing inspiration from Japanese san mai and go mai techniques. I work with a range of high carbon steels, stainless steel, copper, nickel and a wide variety of exotic timbers.
For me knife making is all about combining art and science, form and function are both equally as important. It combines metal work, material science, wood work, product design and a little bit of magic.

Who is Little George?

Little George is me. George Anthony Miller was my grandfather, a toolmaker by trade and all round tinkerer. Grandad had a pretty big influence on my interests growing up, whether it was airfix models for Christmas, trips to see the Glenn Miller orchestra, museums, fishing or just spending time exploring his shed.
So much so, Mum said I was a "Little George".
I'm still lucky enough to have a few of grandads hand tools, which I use wherever possible.
